Where to start

Chapter 33 minutes to read

What kind of job do you have? Start with your row. Each list is in the order to read it.

If you are a property manager

Your day is repairs, compliance, leaseholders and their money. Most of this guide is for you.

  1. Finding your way around (chapter 4), then Seeing what is overdue across every building.
  2. Repairs: Logging a repair someone has reported (raising a ticket), Instructing a contractor (raising a work order) and Keeping on top of open tickets and their due dates.
  3. Compliance: Recording that a check was done (filing a certificate) and Booking a contractor's visit for a duty.
  4. Leaseholders: Finding a leaseholder and their account and Replying to a resident about their ticket, or adding an internal note.
  5. Inspections: Booking or starting a building inspection, then the three tasks after it.
  6. Money, with your finance team: Setting next year's budget and Issuing your service charge demands.

If you are an administrator

You set SynkroTech up and keep it running. Chapter 5 is yours, then chapter 8.

  1. Signing in for the first time and Working through the Setup Checklist.
  2. Setting up your organisation's details and letterhead.
  3. Adding colleagues and giving them a login and Deciding what each colleague can do.

  5. Choosing what gets escalated and chased automatically.
  6. Chapter 8, Keeping it running: templates, access, the Decision Record and your plan.

If you work in finance

Budgets, demands, receipts, arrears and the year end. The Finance jobs in chapter 6 are in the order the year runs.

You need to know what SynkroTech does for the business and what it shows you. Read these and stop.

  1. Chapter 1, What SynkroTech is, and chapter 2, Your roadmap.
  2. Seeing what is overdue across every building: the morning view of risk.
  3. Seeing how the whole portfolio is doing: the figures across every property.
  4. Finding out who did what (the Decision Record): how decisions are recorded.

If you are new, on your first day

Spend your first hour looking, not changing anything.

  1. Sign in (Signing in for the first time).
  2. Read chapter 4, Finding your way around: the menu, the search and how pages are laid out.
  3. Open Home and read My Work: what is yours, what is overdue, and why each matters (Starting the day from My Work).
  4. Open a property from Properties and look at each tab.
  5. Press Ctrl+K and search for a leaseholder by name.
  6. Read chapter 10, The words we use, for any word you do not know.
